Robin Dingemans is a Pākehā from Aotearoa, New Zealand who works as choreographer, performer and teacher/facilitator/consultant. He works internationally, since 2012 based primarily in Sweden, from 1998 the UK & Europe. He has many years experience as an artist in innovative and experimental work in contemporary dance, theatre and performance. His work is centred around playing with creative processes and outputs which are often sociologically informed. Since 2015 explicitly committed to anti-racist/bigoted imperatives informed by his bicultural childhood, life in hyper diverse London and racism in Sweden and internationally. These imperatives are expressed explicitly and/or implicitly in the artistic outputs and research. Embracing decoloniality, pluralism and cosmopolitanism to inform structures and modes of devising, public engagement and organisational development.

Robin's work plays freely with the boundaries of choreography, he experiments with devising processes and potential outcomes, which include dance for the stage, non-traditional performance spaces, video, social dances, workshops, publication of writing online and in print and other mediums. He often collaborates with a broad spectrum of artists, including dancers, dramaturges, composers, writers, illustrators, video designers and more. His works are often grounded in conceptual or philosophical frames, that implicitly explore political and sociological propositions.

He has been supported, commissioned and presented by many different organisations in the UK, Sweden and internationally including Weld in Stockholm, Sadler’s Wells, Rum för Dans Halland, Regionteatern Blekinge Kronoberg, ArtsCross Beijing, The Place, Dance4, Laban Theatre, Dansateliers Rotterdam, Pavilion Dance, Escalator Dance and many more.
